Aurora Scottish Dance is 30!

Aurora Scottish Dance and Music will be 30 this year! Aurora was set up by a group of like-minded friends in 1996 with an interest in Scottish Dance and Music who had originally met at Aberdeen University Scottish Country Dance Society.

Over the years, Aurora has travelled to, and performed at, Folk Dance Festivals in Sweden, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Italy and Romania, and continues to hold weekly social dancing sessions in Dyce.

Aurora has also hosted seven folk dance festivals in Aberdeen offering the opportunity to repay the hospitality from the International Groups we have visited.

As part of our birthday plans, we are delighted that representatives from our friends in Italy, Sweden and France will be joining us here in Aberdeen for a weekend of celebrations this September.

The culmination of these will be an International Ceilidh, in Elphinstone Hall, at the University of Aberdeen, on Saturday 12 September from 8.00pm onwards.

As well as traditional Scottish dances, guests will have the opportunity to learn dances from our visitors. Live music will be provided by the Aurora Band. Ceilidh tickets are £20 (Students £15), including supper, and are available at www.aurorascot.org.uk/events/aurora-30th-anniversary No tickets on the door. Cashless bar open from 7.30pm
